I stole this from somewhere:

That's good. Speaking of stealing, have you read The Book Thief by Zusak? Brenda recommended it. It's most unusual. There's a lot of swearing in it, but it's in German. I think you'd like it.

I did and I absolutely loved it. Especially the P.O.V. of the narrator and the books as prominent plot devices. It was the county-wide book club book here a while back, but I never got to talk to anybody about it. My book club is usually just me and whoever I can pin in a corner to listen to me for a minute. Speaking of German, I'd highly recommend "Errand of Angels". BYU-TV played the movie as an 1 hour and 35 minute commercial for the 1 hour and 35 minute movie. That is some kind of a twisted logic but it worked on me. It's like the "Best Two Years", but in Austria not Belgium, with German language gags instead of flemish, and with two girls (the one from Singles 2nd ward and the other rotated throughout), not a bunch of stinky guys (no bathroom jokes or that kind of tomfoolery). The Director's use of color was fantastic. The main character's self-righteousness is like nails on a chalkboard, but she ends up learning to town it down a little, love herself, love her companion, love Jesus, etc. At first I was wary of another missionary movie (I've lived one for crying out loud, and reviewing my own in my mind's movie player is not always what I'd call a leisure activity) but once I got past the first 1:30, the last 5 minutes were great.

Who is this Jim Jarmush? I need to know before I go quoting him. Maybe I'll set it to music.

Hope it's ok with you if I lend it to Ken.
