Who is writing this? It reminds me of Elder Hale's talk in last October conference about the way to deal with persecution (with love so that it brings the persecutor closer to Christ).
I just finished the Golden Compass trilogy and was trying to decide whether I would recommend it to others. I know it has deeply offended many Christian people, not unlike DaVinci Code, and the Enders Series. People of our faith, though, seem to have a broader scope of imagination when it comes to fantastical theologies, and do seem less likely to be offended. We have embraced many strange mysteries as reality, so why not accept more as fiction?
When I read the Golden Compass trilogy it made me think of how much other Christians don't trust their children. I do like his scope on the universe, but the end was heart breaking for me.
